AUSANGATE 4D/3N
Ausangate is the fifth highest mountain in Perú, its maximum altitude is 6.372 msnm, It is located at Andes Cordillera, more precisely at Vilcanota Cordillera, region of Cusco, surrounded by turquoise colour great lagoons. The Chillca community, place where we will pass during our Trek, is made up by llamas and alpacas shepherds and is known as the guardian of these stoppages.
In its journey the gorgeous views of the great Ausangate, the llamas the alpacas, the vicuñas, the great lakes, falcons and more, made of this Trek an unforgettable experience.
1st Day: CUSCO – TINKI (3.900) – UPIS (4.100)
At 4am we will pick you up at the hotel to drive towards to Tinki, a small village at 3.900m of altitude, from where we start our Trek and where we meet the horsemen and the horses. Here have the breakfast. After 4 hours walking we stop to have the lunch and to enjoy the views of the wonderful Ausangate glacier. After the deserved rest we will continue for 2 hours more, until we reach Upis, a small village at 4.100m, where our first camping is waiting for us and where we have the dinner.
2nd Day: UPIS – PASO DE CONDORES – PUCACCOCHA
Rise early for breakfast and start the Trek. One day to enjoy the wonderful
views of Ausangate, the llamas, the alpacas and the vicuñas, these last
ones are very appreciated by their wool, being considered the most expensive
in the world. We can also see lagoons and if we are lucky we can see condors
during the first hours in the morning. After 3 hours ascending we will arrive to
the highest point of the day, 5000m, where we will do a small rest to recover
energy. Two hours later arrive to the place where we will have the lunch.
Continue for 3 hours towards Pucaccocha (Rojo Lake). At this wonderful place
we will have the dinner and will camp for the second night.
3rd Day: PUCACCOCHA – CHILLCA – YANACCOCHA
Rise early for breakfast. We start the way towards to Chilca with an ascent. Three hours later arrive at El Paso de Alpacas at 5.100m and after 2 hours arrive to Chilca where the lunch is waiting for us. From here we will continue for the second challenge of the day during 2 hours towards El Paso de Vicuña at 5.300m. Now, with a small descend of one hour, we arrive to Yanaccocha Lake at 5.100m, where we will spend the last night of the this wonderful Trek.
Probably this is the most beautiful day of this Trek, since we can enjoy the wonderful views during all the way. The enclave is really gorgeous.
4th Day: YANACCOCHA – MONTAÑA ARCOIRIS – QUESIUNO – CUSCO.
After breakfast we will start the last Trek stage. Two hours later we have arrived to the end of our expected goal, the Arcoíris Mountain at 5.200m. Here have your camera ready to take photos and to listen our Guide explaining why this mountain is so particular. Continue the trek with a 3 hours descend towards Quesiuno, where we enjoy the lunch and where the transfer to take us to Cuzco is waiting.
